Licensed Mental Health Therapist

HOPE+WELLNESS is a private practice dedicated to compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals with depression, stress, and anxiety. We are currently hiring a mental health clinician (Psychologist, LCSW-C, LCPC, LMFT) who is warm, caring, reliable, and highly skilled in evidence-based practices (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness). Candidates must be licensed in the State of Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia. Clinicians who are licensed in other states, Post-Docs and Residents in Psychology may also be considered.

As a practice, we work with children, teens, women, young adults, and adults who present with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, work stress/life balance issues, health conditions (e.g., chronic pain, migraines, infertility), adjustment and life transition concerns. We also specialize in maternal and women's mental health. We are a hybrid practice which means that we accept high quality insurance as well as private pay.

We’re looking for someone with interest and experience working with individuals with depression, anxiety, stress/adjustment with training in evidence-based practices (e.g., CBT, ACT, DBT, parent training). An ideal candidate is someone who is warm, thoughtful, caring, and values the therapeutic relationship -- someone who is looking to build a practice as part of a team rather than alone, with advancement opportunities over time.

A non-ideal candidate would be someone who wants to own their own business in the near future. If that’s you, awesome! But we’re not the place for you. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Communicate with supervisors on a regular, timely, and immediate basis; participate in weekly supervision with supervisor to obtain mentorship, support, feedback

  • Properly prepare and execute clinical notes, documentation for insurance companies, safety contract upon client suicidality and any other reasonable services

  • Comply with Company policies and regulations, as well as the ethics code of the American Psychological Association, National Association of Social Workers, the American Counseling Association and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy; if applicable.

  • Work only under the direction and supervision of a licensed counselor, licensed psychologist or licensed social worker

minimum requirements

  • Conferred Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field

  • Graduated from a CACREP program 

  • Passed NCMHCE

Psychology Externship in Outpatient Clinical Psychology

HOPE+WELLNESS is a private practice dedicated to compassionate, evidence-based care. We work with children, teens, women, young adults, and adults who present with a broad range of concerns including depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship problems, work stress/life balance issues, health conditions (e.g., chronic pain, migraines, infertility), adjustment and life transitions. We also specialize in maternal and women's mental health.

Hope+Wellness offers Pre-doctoral Psychology Externship experiences in clinical psychology for the academic year to students enrolled in doctoral programs in psychology.

Externship experiences and specializations include:

  • Clinical Child Psychology

  • Anxiety and Mood Disorders

  • Adult Outpatient Treatment

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT, DBT, ACT)

Externship opportunities include conducting individual therapy with children and teens who have been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and/or ADHD; externs will gain expertise in both child-and parent-focused interventions.

Supervision: Formal, face-to-face supervision. Externs will work under close supervision provided by Dr Victoria Chialy Smith, PhD, ABPP. Caseload is determined based on externs’ level of training.

Time Requirements : Full-year externship is 12 months, 16 hours/week (2 days/week).
