Gain deep inner clarity and insight to function at your highest capacity

Comprehensive neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations

At Hope+Wellness, we evaluate and provide comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation across the lifespan for children, teens, and adults experiencing a wide range of learning, attention, social, or emotional needs.

Highest level of care

Our evaluations are comprehensive, looking across various domains of functioning, including intellectual, academic, executive functioning, attention, and mood/personality, so that we can best understand your child’s strengths and areas for improvement.

The goal is to arrive at the root of your thinking, learning, emotional, social-emotional abilities, or behavior to develop an understanding of your strengths. We will leave no stone unturned to look at questions you have but also questions you didn’t even know you have — so that you can walk away from the evaluation with definitive answers you are seeking, along with a personalized roadmap ahead.

Expert diagnostics

Testing is completed by a doctoral level psychologist who specializes in testing, using gold-standard, evidence-based methods.

Many of the clients who come to us:

  • were misdiagnosed in a prior evaluation

  • received an evaluation they did not understand

  • did not receive a treatment plan

  • do not have school accommodations in place

Our comprehensive, science-backed evaluations lead to a clear and accurate diagnosis.

We also have options for those looking for accurate, high quality, evidence-based testing at reduced rates who are interested in working with master-level clinicians or doctoral candidates, where testing is supervised by a doctoral level psychologist.

Compassionate, relatable care from clinicians who get it

We are a team of clinicians who are also moms. We understand how hard it can be to navigate the school and mental health care systems while advocating for your child — how frustrating and lost you may feel. We provide the same level of care we would expect for our own children. You or your child are more than a label.

Evaluations include a treatment plan including a complete suite of resources and tools to not only help you or your child succeed, but to thrive.

Complex Cases

  • We specialize in complex cases where an individual may be experiencing symptoms that have gone unnoticed for a long period of time. Many of our clients often tell us that they’ve had to ‘mask’ their symptoms and that they’ve had many challenges that have been going on their whole life but feel unnamed. Sometimes they have received prior testing with inconclusive results. Testing with us is therefore a relief — to find a diagnosis and a name for what it is you are experiencing. We can help provide you with clarity, answers, and relief.

Girls, Teen Girls, Women

  • We test all people but one of our specialties is in testing girls and women. This is because ADHD, ASD, and other neurodevelopmental conditions often look different in girls or women and go unrecognized by clinicians. We are here to help you with this — many of the individuals we test are women who have experienced many years of symptoms going unrecognized, undiagnosed, untreated, and all the associated emotional impacts — looking for answers and relief.

This service is available for an additional fee.

It is natural to have questions and it is important to us that you feel supported as you navigate this process, so please feel free to reach out; we’re happy to help!

Types of Evaluations

Neuropsychological or Psychoeducational Testing
for Children and Teens

A neuropsychological or psychoeducational evaluation is recommended when:

  • your child is experiencing difficulties with academics, learning, school, attention, and emotions or behaviors.

  • you are looking to have your child or teen evaluated for ADHD or ADD or learning disabilities.

  • you are looking to have your child or teen evaluated for emotional testing and mood concerns, including depression, anxiety, bipolar, oppositionality, and irritability.

These evaluations are critical to the future of a child. The results from an evaluation can positively impact their academic life in the short term, and also help ensure they live up to their full potential as they grow into adulthood.

Assessment in children is complex with many overlapping symptoms. Therefore comprehensive neuropsychological or psychoeducational testing is needed in order to tease apart potential factors contributing to symptoms and to make clear, definitive diagnoses for your child.

This evaluation will provide you with clear, accurate diagnoses and meaningful recommendations to clarify your child’s needs and a path forward ahead. You will gain an understanding of your child’s strengths as well as their areas for continued growth.

  • Intellectual Ability/IQ

  • Language

  • Visual-motor and visual-spatial functioning

  • Brief and sustained attention and concentration

  • Executive functioning

  • Socioemotional functioning

Information is also gathered and synthesized with data collected from parents and teachers of the child to obtain an in-depth understanding of your child’s difficulties in different contexts. Specific, individualized recommendations will be provided to address each child’s individualized needs, with a feedback session and comprehensive, written report. This report and the resulting recommendations is critical to obtaining formal accommodations in school.

Child and Teen Emotional/Personality Testing

This evaluation is appropriate for children who need an evaluation for depression, bipolar, anxiety, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, disruptive mood dysregulation, severe irritability. We also offer evaluations for autism.

Given the complexity of assessing symptoms in kids and teens and the significant overlap that occurs, there is a significant need for differential diagnosis and to look comprehensively and accurately at concerns. Domains that are assessed include:

  • Academic functioning

  • Memory and learning

  • Language

  • Visual-motor and visual-spatial functioning

  • Brief and sustained attention and concentration

  • Executive functioning

  • Socioemotional functioning

  • Adaptive functioning

  • Autism spectrum *if desired or applicable

Emotional/Personality Testing for children and teens helps clarify diagnoses. It provides parents and the child’s support systems (e.g., therapists, school) with recommendations for therapy and treatment planning purposes, and to help obtain accommodations at school.

School Admissions/Advanced Academic Placement (AAP) Testing for Children and Teens

This is a brief evaluation which is designed to assess your child’s intellectual functioning. It helps to satisfy admissions requirements for independent schools, as well as advanced academic placement and appeals. A licensed psychologist will directly work with your child to make sure they are comfortable and get the best results and performance from them. We have experience with children who are anxious, stressed and overwhelmed and helping them feel calm and comfortable in our office testing environment. We not only report scores, but also observations of your child during testing, which are invaluable to independent schools admissions team, in helping them to understand your child more holistically.

  • Intellectual Ability/IQ

  • Academic functioning

  • Memory and learning

  • Language

  • Brief and sustained attention and concentration

These evaluations are designed to help you clarify diagnosis and treatment planning to help provide an understanding of how you and your medical providers, and academic, work and family support systems can best help you. They can also help you obtain a profile of your strengths and weaknesses to critically guide rehabilitation or educational services, understand how best to return to work or school.

Adult Emotional/Personality Testing

The Adult Emotional/Personality Evaluation is brief and focused, including domain specific evaluation for emotional or behavioral concerns.

This type of evaluation is for adults only and will help you gain a deeper understanding of your mood and specific psychiatric symptoms you may be experiencing.

This type of testing helps clarify diagnoses, and provides recommendations for future therapy/treatment planning purposes. It is often requested by health care providers so that they can obtain diagnoses and recommendations to best inform treatment.

Due to the complexity of assessing emotional and behavioral concerns in children, children who need an evaluation for depression, bipolar, anxiety, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder would receive the Comprehensive Neuropsyhological/Psychoeducational Evaluation.

Adult Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Testing

It can be challenging as an adult to obtain testing for autism. Many places specialize only in autism testing for children. However, we are pleased to share that we also specialize in autism testing for adults. Many of the adults we see have experienced symptoms for much of their lives which have gone unrecognized and undiagnosed. We use gold standard measures in all of our assessments.

This type of testing is extremely comprehensive in nature in order to rule in and rule out other potential, differential diagnoses.

  • Intellectual Ability/IQ

  • Academic functioning

  • Memory and learning

  • Language

  • Visuo-Spatial functioning

  • Brief and sustained attention and concentration

  • Executive functioning

  • Emotional and behavioral functioning

  • Social Cognition

  • Autism Spectrum

Adult ADHD Evaluations

The Adult ADHD Evaluation is brief and focused, and includes specific, targeted assessment and recommendations. It is recommended primarily for adults who are looking for a differential diagnosis, or for working professionals who are experiencing symptoms in the workplace. Academic testing is limited or not included in the ADHD Evaluation, and the report is shorter. This evaluation is only available if deemed clinically appropriate.

This evaluation is not appropriate for children and teens seeking an evaluation for ADHD due to its brevity and lack of comprehensiveness. As evaluation in children and teens is complex with many overlapping symptoms, children and teens requiring who need an evaluation for ADHD receive comprehensive Neuropsychological or Psychoeducational Evaluations.
