Specialized Areas of Focus

Beyond the concerns mentioned above, we are extremely proud to work with individuals seeking specialized evaluations for the following specific and often hard-to-find areas of care.

twice-exceptional, giftedness, complexity

  • We specialize in evaluating neurodivergence in its many forms, including giftedness and twice-exceptionality—profiles that are often complex and may co-occur with conditions such as ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities.

Standardized Test Accommodations (SAT/ACT, GRE/LSAT)

  • We have extensive experience conducting testing as required by testing boards such as the SAT, ACT, GRE, and LSAT to support formal requests for accommodations.

Young Adults struggling to launch

  • We specialize in working with young adults who are struggling to launch—those who may feel stuck, uncertain, or overlooked. Many come to us without a clear diagnosis, unsure of what’s getting in the way. Our goal is to help uncover what’s beneath the surface, provide accurate diagnoses when needed, and connect them with the services and support that can foster confidence, independence, and a deeper understanding of their unique strengths.

Complex and Long-Standing Concerns which may have been masked or overshadowed by high abilities

  • We specialize in comprehensive evaluations for individuals grappling with complex and long-standing concerns—especially those whose high abilities may have masked their struggles for years. Often, these clients come to us with a deep sense that something has felt “off” or unnamed for much of their lives, despite prior evaluations or attempts to seek help that led to inconclusive answers. For many, their challenges were overshadowed by giftedness, perfectionism, or the ability to compensate in ways that kept underlying symptoms hidden from view. Our approach is designed to bring clarity, direction, and relief.

child Autism Testing

  • We specialize in comprehensive evaluations for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in children, with a deep understanding that every child presents differently. Some may show early signs that are easily recognizable, while others—especially those who are highly verbal, gifted, or sensitive—may have more subtle profiles that are often misunderstood or overlooked. Our assessments are thorough, developmentally informed, and grounded in the latest research, combining clinical expertise with a heartfelt respect for each child’s uniqueness. We take great care in listening to parents’ concerns, observing the child in context, and using evidence-based tools to arrive at a diagnosis when appropriate. More than just identifying challenges, our goal is to help families understand their child’s strengths and needs, access supportive services, and build a path forward that feels hopeful, clear, and empowering.

Adult autism testing

  • We specialize in assessing adults for autism spectrum disorder and are one of the few practices in the Washington DC region dedicated to this important work. Many of our clients come to us after years of feeling unseen or misunderstood. They’ve often developed masking or coping strategies that hide their symptoms, yet the pain of disconnection or confusion remains.

  • Our comprehensive testing process can help you find the answers you’ve been searching for—bringing clarity, validation, and relief. Understanding yourself better is the first step toward living a life that is more connected and authentic.

Neurodivergent Girls, Teens, Women, and Those with Similar Experiences

  • We specialize in evaluating individuals whose neurodivergent experiences—such as ADHD, autism, or other neurodevelopmental differences—may not fit traditional diagnostic frameworks. This is especially true for girls, teens, women, and those who have been socialized under similar gendered expectations, where masking, overcompensating, or internalizing struggles can lead to delayed or missed diagnoses. Many of the people we work with describe feeling as though something has been “off” for years, yet previous evaluations were inconclusive or failed to capture the full picture. Often, their challenges have been minimized, misinterpreted, or overshadowed by strengths like high achievement or sensitivity to others’ needs. We are here to help you uncover the deeper patterns beneath the surface and provide clarity, language, and relief to those who’ve spent too long feeling unseen.

ADHD and executive functioning in girls, women, and those with similar experiences

  • ADHD and executive functioning difficulties often show up differently in girls, women, and individuals socialized to be attentive, agreeable, or high-achieving—traits that can mask the core symptoms for years. Rather than the classic hyperactivity often associated with ADHD, many experience chronic overwhelm, internal restlessness, emotional sensitivity, forgetfulness, or difficulties with time management and organization that are quietly distressing but rarely recognized. These struggles are frequently misattributed to character flaws—being “too sensitive,” “lazy,” or “scattered”—rather than understood as neurodevelopmental in origin. Over time, this can lead to anxiety, shame, burnout, and a sense of falling short despite tremendous effort.

  • We specialize in identifying these subtler presentations of ADHD, helping you finally name what you’ve been experiencing, and offering clear, compassionate insight into how your brain works. Our evaluations provide not only answers, but a starting point for healing, self-understanding, and real-world strategies that support confidence and ease.

Culturally Affirming evaluations

  • We are also mindful of how factors such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and other intersecting identities influence the way neurodiverse traits are perceived and understood.

  • Our goal is to help you move from feeling misunderstood or overlooked to finding answers and actionable steps toward your well-being. You’re not alone, and we are here to support you.

Types of Evaluations

We’ve designed our evaluation program around a few core types—such as comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for adults, and comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for children and adolescents. These serve as the foundation, but the true customization begins during your intake appointment with one of our neuropsychologists. That initial conversation allows us to understand your specific concerns and goals, while also identifying additional areas that may need to be explored—questions you may not have thought to ask, but that are essential to getting a full picture.

This comprehensive approach is intentional. Many conditions overlap or mimic one another, and focusing on just one area often leads to missed pieces. By looking at the whole person comprehensively, we’re able to rule in and rule out diagnoses thoughtfully, ensuring the results are accurate, meaningful, and truly supportive of the next steps in your journey.

Comprehensive
Neuropsychological or Psychoeducational Testing
for Children and Teens

A neuropsychological or psychoeducational evaluation is recommended when:

  • your child is experiencing difficulties with academics, learning, school, attention, and emotions or behaviors.

  • you are looking to have your child or teen evaluated for ADHD ASD, or learning disabilities.

  • you are looking to have your child or teen evaluated for emotional testing and mood concerns, including depression, anxiety, bipolar, oppositionality, and irritability.

These evaluations are critical to the future of a child. The results from an evaluation can positively impact their academic life in the short term, and also help ensure they live up to their full potential as they grow into adulthood.

Assessment in children is complex with many overlapping symptoms. Therefore comprehensive neuropsychological or psychoeducational testing is needed in order to tease apart potential factors contributing to symptoms and to make clear, definitive diagnoses for your child.

This evaluation will provide you with clear, accurate diagnoses and meaningful recommendations to clarify your child’s needs and a path forward ahead. You will gain an understanding of your child’s strengths as well as their areas for continued growth.

A neuropsychological or psychoeducational evaluation with us will provide you with the following detailed information about your child:

  • Intellectual Ability/IQ

  • Academic functioning

  • Memory and learning

  • Language

  • Visual-motor and visual-spatial functioning

  • Brief and sustained attention and concentration

  • Executive functioning

  • Socioemotional functioning

  • Adaptive Functioning

Information is also gathered and synthesized with data collected from parents and teachers of the child to obtain an in-depth understanding of your child’s difficulties in different contexts. Specific, individualized recommendations will be provided to address each child’s individualized needs, with a feedback session and comprehensive, written report. This report and the resulting recommendations is critical to obtaining formal accommodations in school.

Adult Emotional/Personality Testing

The Adult Emotional/Personality Evaluation is brief and focused, including domain specific evaluation for emotional or behavioral concerns.

This type of evaluation is for adults only and will help you gain a deeper understanding of your mood and specific psychiatric symptoms you may be experiencing.

This type of testing helps clarify diagnoses, and provides recommendations for future therapy/treatment planning purposes. It is often requested by health care providers so that they can obtain diagnoses and recommendations to best inform treatment.

Adult Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Testing

It can be challenging as an adult to obtain testing for autism. Many places specialize only in autism testing for children. However, we are pleased to share that we also specialize in autism testing for adults. Many of the adults we see have experienced symptoms for much of their lives which have gone unrecognized and undiagnosed. We use gold standard measures in all of our assessments.

This type of testing is extremely comprehensive in nature in order to rule in and rule out other potential, differential diagnoses.

  • Intellectual Ability/IQ

  • Academic functioning

  • Memory and learning

  • Language

  • Visuo-Spatial functioning

  • Brief and sustained attention and concentration

  • Executive functioning

  • Emotional and behavioral functioning

  • Social Cognition

  • Autism Spectrum

Adult ADHD Evaluations

The Adult ADHD Evaluation is brief and focused, and includes specific, targeted assessment and recommendations. It is recommended primarily for adults who are looking for a differential diagnosis, or for working professionals who are experiencing symptoms in the workplace. Academic testing is limited or not included in the ADHD Evaluation, and the report is shorter. This evaluation is only available if deemed clinically appropriate.

This evaluation is not appropriate for children and teens seeking an evaluation for ADHD due to its brevity and lack of comprehensiveness. As evaluation in children and teens is complex with many overlapping symptoms, children and teens requiring who need an evaluation for ADHD receive comprehensive Neuropsychological or Psychoeducational Evaluations.
